Get the Most Out of Your Gym Membership
Folks who use the great outdoors and exercise DVDs instead of a gym are definitely getting cheap fitness, but some like classes. I, for instance, need an instructor to point out what I’m doing wrong. And, that’s the secret of making your gym membership pay off: classes.
A single yoga or Pilates class costs $15 in Chicagoland, or $10 if you buy a $100/10-class card available at some studios. With a $45/mo membership, go to class 8 times a month, and you're getting $80 worth of classes for $45. Add an hour on the treadmill before class in the winter, and that's a lot of bang for your buck.
