Thankfulness
I'm thankful for a lot this year.
There's been turmoil at work as my company feels the effects of the recession. I figured it was more than likely my contract would not be renewed for next year. But, just before Thanksgiving, one of my superiors announced he would not return. So, next year I'll have a new position. I'm also getting a 9% raise and my own office.
Relief is sweet. I get to keep my health insurance. I get to avoid job hunting, and, potentially, a move to a new city. In the event I couldn't find a job, I worried I might have to move in with friends, and curtail my already spartan lifestyle.
In preparation for prolonged unemployment, I've been living on half my take-home pay. It wasn't too difficult, since I cut back so much this summer. I'm going to keep on saving this way, since I'm used to it.
If you're thankful for something, please, feel free to share. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
