Kitchen Organization and Little Details
Remember how the kitchen started looking like this...

...but then we added paint and decals...

Well, we finally got some organization and little details going, so that, today, the kitchen looks like this:

You'll remember the rug from my studio apartment. The knob on the drawer (which Hubs installed too high, oh well) was free thanks to a $10 birthday certificate from World Market. The Grundtal bar, dish rack, cutlery basket, shelf, and two sets of S-hooks were $64 including tax at IKEA. The dry-erase board on the refrigerator was $10-ish at Walmart. Hubs used superglue because the included magnets were weak. He swears it will all come off...
The plastic pegboards were around $6 each, and we installed four of them. The major advantages to these boards were that they wipe clean, and they come with feet to hold them away from the wall, so we didn't have to frame out the boards with 1x. We bought a basic pegboard organizer kit. I think it was $10. So, $34 for the following glory...

Oops, blurry again.
I also went to Papyrus, and bought a roll of wrapping paper. I used it as shelf liner, but only on the lower cabinets. It was $6. It looks best in the silverware drawer. We purchased the silverware organizer from The Container Store for $10 (already had the little one in the front).

Hubs plans to install a couple of shelves above the pegboards, because we just do NOT have room for the crazy amount of kitchen gear we've received from our registry. Why did I think I could fit all that stuff into this little kitchen???
So, we're not quite finished, but we're close. The current total on this magnificent apartment kitchen makeover is $139 which also includes the $15 spent on 1 qt Fresh Pineapple paint by Glidden at Home Depot.
P.S. If you see any way for us to improve the usage of this space, please tell! We're open to suggestion.
