Dining Room: Before & After
Once upon a time, there was a teeny-tiny space next to a kitchen that probably would've worked as an office, but dreamed of being a dining room. It looked like this:

Ugh.
Then, a fairy godmother & godfather came, worked like a couple of dogs, and this is what that humble room looks like today:

Above the chair rail is Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore, below is Stonington Gray, also by Benjamin Moore. The table is BJURSTA from Ikea with a table pad on top from Bed Bath & Beyond. The water pitcher is Crate & Barrel and ever so slightly tinted blue. We found the chairs and the radiator cover at Salvage One for $50/ea. Hubs promises the radiator cover will fit properly soon, but until then, where better to keep it?
I had to angle the camera a little to get the maps on the wall.
As you may remember from this post, we got a killer deal on some maps from Art.com. All that was missing were frames. I picked them up from Michael's where they were 40% off and used a 25% off coupon, too. The total for 6 assorted black frames was $84.64. The giant wooden frame was made by Hubs' father, and holds an old-timey world map Hubs' brother picked up in Italy, and gave to Hubs as a gift.
Here's another view:

We chose maps of places where one of us has actually been. Except Japan. We just wanted Japan. 'Cause it's cool.
And here's the other corner:

The secretaire was a gift from a friend who was moving out-of-state. The decanters were wedding presents. The fan was a flea market find. We'd recently had our first dinner party, hence extra napkin rolls.
So that's our little dining room. We're very proud. Hubs is going to paint and fit the radiator, and we'd like to add some great curtains, but other than that, we're finished!
P.S. If you know of curtains you think would rock our dining room, let us know; we're stumped.

Ugh.
