New Chicago Cheap Apartment!
We've been talking a lot about decorating the apartment, but haven't told you ABOUT the apartment.
First of all, we love it. The new place is a one-bedroom/one-bath, third-floor walk-up in the Wrigleyville section of Lakeview. It has wood floors, a dining room, and ceiling fans (which I hate. Shh, don't tell Hubs, he loves them. Just kidding, he knows). It's approximately 615 sq. ft. We're paying $1,100, heat included. The asking price was $1,125. We got them down to $1,100 and paid a $250 move-in fee.
Electric runs $40/mo, cooking gas $20, internet $14, and renters insurance $15. We don't have parking, a landline, or cable... and we're fine with that. Especially the part where we don't have to pay for them.
I overlapped my old lease with my new lease so we could paint and decorate properly before the wedding and before I had to return to work for my primary client. It was a great decision, well worth the money, and I consider it one of the payoffs of living beneath my means.
